Regrowth is a short documentary exploring the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew in Savannah, Georgia, and the surrounding communities — not only the destruction left behind, but the unexpected ways people came together in its wake.

I developed and produced the documentary independently, handling the project from concept through filming and post-production. Through interviews with residents, arborists, tree professionals, and disaster workers, I set out to document the recovery effort and the people experiencing it firsthand.
As I worked through the footage, however, a larger story emerged. People described longtime neighbors who barely knew one another suddenly clearing debris together, sharing resources, and rebuilding side by side. What began as a film about a community recovering from a hurricane became a story about the community itself. |

That idea became Regrowth — referring not only to Savannah's damaged landscape beginning again, but to the relationships that grew from the disruption. It reflects the kind of filmmaking I’m particularly drawn to: starting with a subject and point of view, then allowing the strongest narrative to emerge through the people, footage, and edit.
